Excerpts From Our Guest Book
Katherine from Mpls:
"Tomorrow morning we leave--after a glorious week.
Lakeview was charming and cozy and the Lodge a dream! The weather
was beautiful these past couple of days, too. Canoeing, hiking,
taking in the stars--enjoying the expanse inside & outside.
Thank you so much for helping to create
such a wonderful place to enjoy the north country. We look
forward to returning. *Oh yes--the wolves howled for us one
night, we saw moose & otter & I was able to lounge on
those 'Boundary Waters rocks' I've been longing for."
Ken from Virginia:
"This place in an incredible combination of
accommodation and wildness--both first class."
Paul and Margaret from Duluth:
"Thank you for the use of these beautiful facilities! We
had a wonderful time relaxing and taking in all of the beautiful
grounds! It is all very well furnished and you are great hosts.
We hope you are here for a long time.
P.S. There is a MONSTER
Pike at the entrance to Hilda Creek. Make sure you let him go for
someone else to enjoy. The fishing was
FANTASTIC!"
Stephanie from MPLS and parents from South Dakota:
"We all had a wonderful time! The Lodge is amazing,
plenty of room to spread out (important for a big family like
ours) and a great long dining room so we can come back togetheer
when it's time to eat! We watched movies, sat in front of the
fires, played games, fished, canoed, all took turns cooking, and
took day-trips to Ely and Crane Lake. We decided too late that we
wanted to go on a float plane ride (booked) but we will save that
for next time. Thanks again to our wonderful hosts, we are so
happy we could be part of the Inaugural Season of Loon's Echo!
P.S. We saw five timerwolf pups and a bear on Forest Road 200!
Meg and Ron from Iowa:
"We were in awe when we walked into Wild Loon Lodge. . .and
we still marvel @ the 'homey' furnishings--lace curtains, loons
in every corner, music from the radio/CD unit, wood chairs, log
beds, quilts, refurbished gas stove, and everything else. .
.bathroom 'throne' and comfy den, 3
woodburning stoves/fireplaces."
"We loved our time here, playing games (flipping 'washers'
to see who'd have to wash whatever dishes the dishwasher couldn't
handle; Taboo, 'spoons', Yahtzee), fishing, paddling to Table
Rock Falls and up to Liftover Falls where we enjoyed lunch, then
eating--each daughter planned lunch and supper for a day/what a
treat!
"Again, thanks for making us feel so welcome &
relaxed. . .we can't wait to return to a true 'wilderness
retreat.'"
Jenny, age 10, from
Bartlett, Illinois:
"The fishing was great. I caught my first
walleye. We had a lot of fun on the canoe trip to see Table Rock
Falls. The falls were beautiful. Pinecone was cozy. We had lots
of fun. Can't wait to come back. Thanks."
Kathy from Wisconsin:
"The serenity and stillness relaxes even the
most jingled nerves. Thanks for offering us a glimpse of
paradise. Looking forward to next year."
Jerod, age 17, from Nebraska:
"For my senior year of high school, I was able to choose
a place in the U.S. to go for a family trip. I wanted a place
that was very secluded, full of wilderness, and good fishing.
Loon's Echo has all of those plus more! I had one of the best
times here and would love to come back again in the future."
Tammy from Nebraska:
"It's Thursday night, and 10 pm. We are just now eating!
Its our last night and no one wants it to end! The weather has
been beautiful. . .sunshine, cool evenings, beautiful sunsets!
The water has been so calm in the evenings & the sound of the
loons is something I will never forget. Our 4 sons stayed in
Lakeview, & Monte and I were in Pinecone. . .perfect set-up.
We are fishermen & enjoyed being close to the lake. Have
caught about 30 this week of perch, Northern, and some really
nice bass! Had the most fun canoeing! Loved using Maggie's bread
machine! Pete Jr. and Dan were Excellent hosts! Rode one of your
bikes to Astrid Lake yesterday (18 miles round trip) & didn't
see ONE other person. The solitude here is wonderful! Right at
the top of our family vacations! Thanks, Jungs!"
Jeri Kay from Mpls:
"There aren't words to justly describe all that we've
experienced during our time here. Magical? Peaceful? Beautiful?
Exceptional? Yes. . . all these things and more. Thank you for
sharing your Northwoods home with us. Your friendly smile, warm
hospitality and caring generosity made this vacation one of the
best and one of the most memorable ever."
Sally from Texas:
"We had a wonderful stay at your perfect lodge. Thank
you for all the things you did for us--the bread was excellent
and the bread machine was fun. The northern pike fishing was the
best Robert and Eric have ever had. The canoe trip was fun. We
loved relaxing most of all and this is the perfect place to do
it. Katherine loved the wild blueberries most. Thanks for the
recipes and conversation. We felt very welcome."
Lynn and Gene from Mpls:
"Remote, Relaxing, Romantic. The perfect retreat!"
Gene
"Thank you so much for opening your new
"enterprise" a few months early! We're pleased to be
your first guests. Rest assured that we will return, as well as
tell friends and family about this beautiful place and the
wonderful people who run it. Thanks" Lynn
